Following the events of the Pro Bowl, the 2022-23 National Football League (NFL) season is winding to a close with its showpiece Super Bowl LVIII the last serious competitive game of the year. The Super Bowl is arguably the most lucrative annual championship final in the world with last year's final witnessing almost 100 million Americans tune in for the game.
This year's Super Bowl will be contested by the number one seeds from both the American Football League (AFC) and the National Football League (NFC). Representing the NFC as conference champions will be the Kansas City Chiefs while the Philadephia Eagles will represent the AFC after claiming the conference championship.
However, prior to the main event, the league also conducts its annual NFL Awards, which aims at honoring the best players from the past season.
The NFL Awards
The NFL Awards are the NFL's equivalent of a player award ceremony. The ceremony is relatively new with its first show only being hosted in 2011. In fact, from 2012 to 2020 the award ceremony was pre-recorded for same-day broadcast with the event's first live telecast only occurring in 2021.
This year's event will be hosted by Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson, who also becomes the first woman to host the ceremony.
